Sarah Sapaugh is thrilled to join the Kennedale Wildcat Band team as the Assistant Director at Kennedale Junior High! Ms. Sapaugh’s duties will include assisting the KHS and KJH Bands, lead the KJH Symphonic Band, and teach high brass classes.

Ms. Sapaugh joins us from Winnsboro ISD in Winnsboro, Texas where she was the assistant director at Winnsboro Junior High for five years. Under her direction, Ms. Sapaugh’s bands were consistent UIL Sweepstakes recipients. Ms. Sapaugh has also coached a number of small ensembles that have received 1st Division ratings at the region and state level. Additionally, Ms. Sapaugh assisted the Winnsboro High School Marching Band as they advanced to the UIL 3A State Marching Contest for the first time in school history, where they finished 5th in 2021.

Prior to Winnsboro, Ms. Sapaugh worked at Prescott School District in Prescott, Arkansas for two years as the assistant director. While at Prescott her bands received 1st division ratings and were the first 2A State Marching Champions in 2016.

Ms. Sapaugh is a 2011 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. She then went to earn her Bachelor of Music Education from Henderson State University in 2015. While at HSU, Ms. Sapaugh studied horn under Dr. Amy Laursen and Dr. Heather Thayer and performed in the HSU Wind Ensemble, Brass Band, The Showband of Arkansas Marching Band, and multiple chamber ensembles.

Ms. Sapaugh’s professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Association of Texas Small School Bands, Texas Bandmasters Association, and International Horn Society.

During her free time, Ms. Sapaugh loves to go on walks and explore new trails, playing disc golf, trying new recipes, watching Astros baseball and playing with her cat, Gracie.
